ABOUT THE OGEEZ
The OGeeZ are StevieG and L.J. Witter, a studio duo founded in San Jose. They write to the story, not to a genre, so the sound moves with the material. Their current work, The Wandering Romantic, is built in acts. Act I, San Jo, is seven songs about one city.
The OGeeZ are a studio-driven project, prioritizing detailed production and recording over traditional live performance formats.
How it started
For years, neither Steve Gerick nor L.J. Witter realized the other had musical chops, because it rarely came up. Then Steve mentioned he played some guitar, L.J. said "Hey, I sing a little," and a seed was planted that has grown into a collaboration nearly two decades deep.
In 2008 they made their first studio album together. Both being well past middle age, deciding on a band name proved harder than making the music. They settled on The OGeeZ, which in modern parlance could mean Original Gangsters or Old Geezers. They deemed themselves more the latter than the former, so The OGeeZ it was.
Five albums followed over their first stretch: The Seven Deadly Sins, All Over The Map, Losing My Mind, The Blues Connection, and Feelings. Today the partnership runs long distance, StevieG writing, producing, and mixing from his Southern California studio, L.J. recording from the Bay Area, with San Jose still at the center of the work.
The sound
Genre-bending is the only honest description. Their tastes push at the edges of everything from blues, Latin, and R&B to pop, jazz, and even rap, and the sound follows whatever story is being told.
Still at it
That these two are still making music at their age is notable, and they wear it proudly. For everyone way past middle age who loves to sing and play, The OGeeZ hope the music inspires you to reexamine the boundaries of your own talent.
The films
Every San Jo track has a companion film. The films are AI-generated cinematic works, directed by StevieG for VeeVeeVee Productions. The music is written, performed, and produced by The OGeeZ. The music is not AI.
StevieG founded VeeVeeVee Productions as the home for the band's music and his film work, and taught himself AI filmmaking to give every OGeeZ song a visual story. What started as one video became a way of working: each act of The Wandering Romantic now arrives as both an album and a film series.
